Based on 1,800 interviews with Boston teens, Harvard researchers found 59% of heavy Coalition Pushes For Evaluation of Sugar-Sweetened Drinks" drinkers (five or more cans per week) reported incidents with peers, compared to 35% of low consumption reported incidents Heavy soda drinkers were twice as likely to carry a weapon.  Researchers said they controlled for other factors like alcohol and tobacco use and weight. The Harvard study did not go so far as to say that sodas cause violence. The study does agree with two other studies in the past five years that have  linked declining mental health and anti-social behavior to soda consumption.
