Thyroid Imbalances Are Common

The thyroid gland regulates body temperature and helps the heart utilize cholesterol.  Physicians can order a thyroid panel to be performed on you in the laboratory.

Hypothroidism is a common condition that can cause weight gain, fatigue, pale and cold skin, constipation, high cholesterol levels, weakness and joint pain.  Hyperthyroidism may cause weight loss, tremors, heart palpitations or rapid heartbeat, or difficulty sleeping.

If you suffer from high stress levels and lack of sleep, persistent digestive problems, suspect hormonal imbalances or nutritional deficiencies, or have a weak immune system, the next time you have a physical exam from your physician, be sure to mention that you would like to be assured that your thyroid gland is functioning properly.
